I tried posting this yesterday, but got kicked outta the internet service! So here you go -
What a day. What a 24 hours, I should say. Whew! Erk swears the state of Ohio has something out for him :)
I suppose I should start with yesterday, rewinding a bit further, Molly’s fever that started on Saturday was still lingering yesterday. She spent Sunday night, Monday all day and Monday night with Nanny and Papa (at Nanny and Papa Loo’s, if you can follow that). She was pretty lethargic and even puked while hanging out with them. By the time we “got her back” yesterday, she seemed alright. Not herself, but perked up a bit. She loved seeing her bros again :)
Anywho, my folks spent the day with us at the campground and we went out for supper last night. It was there at Cracker Barrel that Molly really got looking and acting like she felt like poop. So it was set in our minds to call our doc at home to see what they’d recommend. So we got a thermometer real quick after dinner and headed back to the campsite, Mom and Dad headed out to Nanny and Papa Loo’s. Mol’s temp was 102.8. So we call the on call doc back home who tells us to take her to the hospital, for fear of a kidney infection. WHAT? HUH? I had poo-pooed it for a few days and now it’s worth a trip to the ER???? So I loaded Mol up and Erk stayed at the trailer with the boys.
We were 4th in line in the ER, a clean and neat place. There was a young boy there lying across his grandma’s lap with a bloody cloth and bag of ice covering his nose. I noticed he had an orange baseball uniform on. So Molly and I walked by and I asked, “was it a ball or bat?” The grandmother smiles and responds, “a ball.” The 8 or 9 year old boy mumbles from under his ice and rag, “a really hard ball.” Poor kid! So we finally get called back, deal with la-de-da nurse, then get put in a room where the next nurse can’t see straight. She does her checks and says the doc will be with us. After an HOUR, I hit the nurse button wondering where the beak the doc is. He comes after another 20 minutes and does a check, sends in 2 nurses to get a urine sample (with a cathiter). When they finished and Mol had been screaming and crying the whole time, I cried with her while she clung so tightly to me. Then Erk got there and sat with us (Mom and Dad had come back to the site to sit with the boys) and the doc came back in saying her urine and all were clear. Praise the LORD. Praise Him.
He did recommend blood work be done though to rule out anything else. He said once they were done with that, we’d be on our way. Well, after having to poke around in her right arm with no luck, they finally got what they needed outta her left and we were able to leave. Four hours after getting there. Whew. We are so glad it wasn’t “worse case scenario” – hopefully in the next few days we’ll hear what the blood work says. But the doc basically chalked it up to a virus. I guess I’m not the worst mom in the world :(
So that was last night. Today we’ve had a birthday boy (Jack is SIX!) and celebrated all day as best we can. We moved campgrounds (night and day I tell ya, this place is SO COOL compared to where we were), taken naps, went out for Mexican food and Jack ordered chicken tenders, the boys rode their new bday presents (scooters) around the hotel parking lot where Mom and Dad are now staying (Nanny and Papa Loo have more company coming tonight). On our way to dinner, a mailbox jumped out and hit out extended mirror on the passenger side which left us without one. But it’s all good. Cousin Mike called today and it was great to chat with him about the wedding and all coming up in a few days. We’ll go in the morning to get the boys’ tuxedos :)
I hope you’ve had a good 24 hours – heck, good week so far. We’ll check back in with ya’ll soon!
