This Morning
It’s snowing and blowing, it’s 7:01,
For some their day has just begun.
Not me though, been up for a bit,
With the crying of Molly, early we were hit.
So Daddy thought he’d go tell her back to sleep she must go,
But we know that’s not gonna work, it’s just for show.
So where does the little baby in the pink sleeper end up?
In our bed, climbing over to sit on me like a truck.
Does she sit still? You can guess not for a second,
Constant “mama” and babble, my sleep is over I reck’in.
Mikie comes in our room quiet as he can be,
Over to my side of bed to ask a sweet question to me.
“Mom, how many days now til Christmas?” he asks,
“Four,” I reply and he joyfully turns back around to take on his tasks.
Of course it’s still pitch dark out and not even 6:45,
But at that point, I’m completely exposed, no place to hide.
Bean dog makes her way in our room with a swinging open of our door,
Comes on over to my side too, wanting to be pet all the more.
Molly catches wind thru her diving on me that Bean is now in the room,
“Hi!” she says repeatedly and so cute it makes me giggle with a boom.
In between trying to get my hand to hold her chubby knuckled fists,
I decided it’s time to get up, I can’t sleep like this.
So down I come in the darkness to start the day right then,
With Bean right behind us begging to go out, ahh the jobs of men.
I give her a minute and then call her in the backdoor but hear a “ruff!”
She’s waiting at the front door, trying to hide from the stuff.
The snow is coming down sideways and blowing all around.
A safe and not-so-cold place is really hard to be found.
So I let Bean in and Molly has already found a place to climb.
With a child like her she doesn’t mind, has not concept of time.
And now? I have two boys already sitting in “time out,”
Of their mouths although told to be quiet, have been met with shouts.
So here I am with messy hair and morning breath galore,
But behold, heck, what’s my issue? It’s already 7:24…

RIght Now
Right now:
I have a 15 month old with no pants on (Mikie thought it’d be “cute” to pull them off).
I have sucha gut ache, I wish I could puke right now (ahh the beauty of kids bringing home sickness from school).
I have taken away tv privileges for both boys due to their lack of QUIET during quiet time and it’s biting me in the butt!
I have 2 boys running rambunctious around the house making believe they are fisherman or their friends names or Frosty the snowman. On occasion, like right now, one of them (Mikie) comes to me crying while the other one runs in the room screaming “No I DIDN’T!” at the top of his lungs.
I have dirty melted snow drips all over the main floor.
I have glitter tossed to and fro from cute projects the boys brought home from school yesterday.
I have a kind neighbor who plowed out our driveway for us with his big tractor (for that I am mighty thankful!)
I have to think about what to make for dinner when food is the last thing that sounds good to me.
I have a garage door that won't go down cause too much snow is in the way.
I have no idea how long it will take Erk to get home from work in all this snow.
I have my bed calling my name, but I can’t respond yet cause I have a few, like 3, huge responsibilities that come first.

You call it boring, I call it relaxing
I’m strugglin’ today, I’m not gonna lie. It started yesterday for me, truthfully, and it’s amazing how like clockwork it is anymore! The three letters that get us ladies EVERY freaking month. Yep, that’s me today – trudging thru not only snow, but a lack of patience, a feeling of wanting to be all alone, and this underlying wanting to absolutely kick someone’s BUTT. Yep, that’s me.
I thought since Molly wouldn’t take a nap this morning (all she did was cry and cry) that gearing her and I up to head out into the snow would be fun. The boys were already outside, wouldn’t that make for some cute pictures and a good way for Mol to enjoy winter? Umm, no. She basically cried the entire time sitting there in the snow – wanting nothing to do with the whole experience. The boys kept coming in the house with snowy boots then would walk all over even after I told them repeatedly (and not so nicely) NOT to do that – “stay on the RUG!” So the floors were wet (is there anyone reading this who LIKES having wet socks after stepping in water unexpectedly?) and I am about to be pushed over the edge. Day to day mom stuff, sure, but today? Just don’t got that extra nicey nice thing going on…
So we came in and I unloaded Molly back up in her crib. Sure she cried again for a bit, but she needs a nap this morning! She finally quit and now the boys are playing upstairs ever so peacefully! I told Jack I was just going to sit on the couch for a bit. He says, “not watch tv or anything?” I said “nope, just sit in quiet,” and he thought that sounded so BORING. Not me – I call it relaxing!
